BEFORE you start any neck treatment you MUST read this first!
Over the years upon reviewing scientific studies often the premise leaves one gobsmacked with simplicity. Yes Captain Obvious if you feed children only sugar it will affect their behaviour, or placing your hand on a hot stove will cause burns.
Other studies that are obvious to me are not necessarily common knowledge to the lay person. I site a study in the publication called The Journal of Manipulation & Physiology 2013.
The purpose of the study was to investigate outcomes of patients suffering from cervical radiculopathy or cervical nerve root compression, degenerative spondylosis.
OK this is getting a little too wordy so let’s break it down. In simple terms this is a pinched nerve in your neck. It could be coming from the disc or the shock absorber between your vertebrae or an impingement of the nerve root.
Symptoms can be from soup to nuts as they say including arm pain, numbness or tingling down the arm, arm pain, wrist pain, elbow pain, headaches, neck pain, decreased range of motion in the neck and the list goes on.
Patients are often treated with lifestyle changes, medications, and even injections. The study that I am referring to studied the efficacy of manipulation or as we refer to it in chiropractic …the adjustment.
One month after the initial treatment 68.9% reported significant improvement. That figure rose to 85.7% after three months. Wowzer!!!
When patients suffer from acute, sub-cute and even chronic symptoms and they can achieve this level of improvement is there any difficultly in choosing what path to take.
Now when we couple the adjustment with non-surgical spinal decompression, specifically directed exercises the results will increase to an even higher level of progress.
People suffer needlessly because they don’t think to include a chiropractor in their health care team.
If you or anyone you know is suffering from any type of arm pain, numbness, tingling don’t hesitate to contact us for an consultation to see if you can benefit from conservative chiropractic care.
