Well I don’t about your neck of the woods but here in the western GTA we have had our fair share of snow and winter. OH YEA… I grew up in the snow belt so snow days really weren’t off anyones radar by a long shot.

The problem is that I moved to what I call the Ontario Banana belt 20+ years ago. Normally there is such little snowfall that I literally gave my snow blower to my brother years ago. Didn’t see much use for it. Ah that was then this in now. This weekends past blast did a remarkable job a the white covering. So we had about 30 or so centimeters. OK I have to admit that as a boomer and one who was in school before the metric system I still do the conversion in my head and then go oh 10-12 inches…yah that was a righteous amount…

But i must admit there are certain ways to look at things…you know the whole glass is half full or is it half empty?

When I really self reflect I think somewhere in my mind I actually like shoveling the snow. I look at as the Gym comes right to your driveway for your workout. I like to get into what I call the Zen of Snow Shoveling.

You really need to know your limits and listen to your body. The last thing you want to do is to be shaking hands with a blown coronary artery or even worse with Gabriel.

So as you are starring at that task ahead make sure you have the right tools for the job. If you can push a shovelful it makes more sense than lifting and chucking right! Well of course. If you have a driveway for example to shovel divide it up into four quadrants or more. So in other words you are tackling a smaller project and you see progress and a sense of accomplishment.

And by the way we all have that little voice in the back of our heads….it’s pretty smart…listen to it….if that little voice says stop and take a break do so… don’t try and finish without the proper rest. You know human race is only an expression…there is no race to it at all…

So by completing smaller tasks you finish your project with a sense of accomplishment and a workout like if you had gone to a gym…

Now that you have finished you need to go inside, hydrate and know that you don’t have anymore shoveling to do….oh crap here comes the snowplow. As much as we all complaign in the lingering days of winter I must say that there are few places on earth that I would rather be…well excluding those one or two week all inclusives in the Caribbean …

Well here is to all of you on your March Break week, your St. Patrick’s, Easter, Passover and the Ides of March….wow busy month this year…I am sure that we are all eager to see the buds on the trees (especially if we can’t see them on the ice during playoffs) the spring rebirth and the cultural phenomenon of sidewalk cafes of…. I am Canadian…

So matter what you are faced with make it a joy in your life if possible and keep your spine Chiropractically healthy. The better your spine and nervous system functions the better health and wellness you own…
