Active Rehab / Functional Conditioning

The focus of Alliance Healthcare Professionals clinical program is return to Function. Functional intervention begins early in the rehabilitation process with our therapist screenings performed as soon as the patient enters Active Rehabilitation and Conditioning. This evaluation forms an integral part of the rehabilitation plan with function based activities started early in the program.

The therapist where necessary compiles all relevant functional information from the patient, employer, work site, and/or insurer. If functional data is not available, the following assessment(s) may be required:

(1) Benchmark/Baseline Functional Evaluation
(2) Job Site Assessment
(3) Home Site Assessment

This phase is designed to help individuals resume pre-injury activities of daily living.

It is a gradual progression from active conditioning with the addition of functional activity
components including: reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, etc., beginning at the
appropriate level of difficulty. Treatment duration is increased with the additional
activities. Patients participate in physical and functional components of treatment
monitored by certified athletic therapists or kinesiologists under the supervision of
       physiotherapists and other therapists.
Participation in functional conditioning may last 1-1/2 hours.
Employer contract is maintained to coordinate a return to work plan.
As the patient improves the performance of the functional components they progress to
functional simulation activities. Here the components are combined to form job/lifestyle
simulations with the focus on endurance.
