Back pain
The trunk of your body is strengthened above the waist by your ribs, which are attached to the spine and help maintain the body in an upright position. The large hip bones provide support below the waist. The entire support is provided by the spinal segments (vertebrae) and the ligaments and muscles which hold them in normal positions. The vertebrae can often be thrown out of alignment, causing painful backache.
Bad posture and body conditioning are two main reasons backs are prone to injury. Your chiropractor is trained to determine exactly which segment or segments are out of alignment and can restore the vertebrae to its proper position by gentle adjustment and advise you on a specific exercise program or recommend massage therapy or physiotherapy.
